What we are working to do about melanoma and skin cancer:
Prevent it - While Florida sunshine can be wonderful, it can also be dangerous. Education plays a major part in prevention. We speak at public schools and public forums to let individuals and families know how to be safe in the sun.
Diagnose it- Since there is currently no cure for melanoma, we have to diagnose early so we can treat it .UM has state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and provides skin cancer screenings to various communities throughout the year.
Find a cure - UM Dermatology is on the cutting edge of melanoma and skin cancer research. Our researchers are working diligently to identify the sources of skin cancers as well as mechanisms to prevent and repair cancerous cells.
