Neuromodulators: Botox® and Dysport®

Neuromodulators: Botox® and Dysport®

Neuromodulators such as Botox® and Dysport® are used to reduce or even eliminate the lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes, by relaxing the muscles responsible for the development of static and dynamic lines or wrinkles.

After treatment, the muscles gradually become relaxed allowing the overlying skin to appear smooth and unwrinkled. Alone, or in combination with other facial rejuvenation procedures, these products can offer a significant improvement in one’s appearance.

Your dermatologist will determine where to administer the injections in order to achieve the best cosmetic results. No sedation or anesthesia is required, and patients may return to work immediately. The result of the injection usually becomes apparent within 3 to 7 days and the effect of the treatment generally lasts around four months.

Both products are also used to improve excessive sweating of the underarms, hands and feet, a condition known as hyperhidrosis. A single treatment session can provide months of relief, and injections may be repeated when the excessive perspiration returns.
